Changes include waiving alternating lane requirement and approving use of isopropyl alcohol to clean bowling balls ARLINGTON, Texas – The United States Bowling Congress Board of Directors approved waivers and modifications to USBC Playing Rules to allow certified leagues and tournaments more flexibility to return to bowling while adhering to local health guidelines related to COVID-19. The modifications allow certified competition to take place on one lane for the entirety of a game. Additionally, bowlers will be allowed to use isopropyl alcohol, more commonly known as rubbing alcohol, to clean their bowling ball during competition. It has been a long 6 months and we are so happy you are now open for business.  We realize the financial burden centers have already incurred, and which will continue due to the 50% maximum capacity. Hopefully, NY State will allow bowling centers to open at full capacity soon. During the pandemic, the LIUSBC Executive Board has been meeting regularly to ensure a smooth rollout for the fall season. Dear LIUSBC Members: It is with great sadness that I must inform you of the passing of LIUSBC Director Sid Weihs on August 2, 2020.  Sid served the Long Island bowling community for over 45 years.  Over his many years of service Sid served numerous terms as a Director for the Eastern Long Island Bowling Association, including a term as the ELIBA President.  After the 2007 merger of the bowling associations on Long Island, Sid continued to represent our community as a Director up until his passing.  In 2014, Mr. Weihs was given the highest honor in our association, induction

Dear LIUSBC Members: This afternoon our hearts go out to the Serigano family. It is with great personal sadness that I must inform you we lost our beloved friend, and LIUSBC Hall of Famer, Mike Serigano. Mike was a prominent face in Long Island bowling over 30 years. Everyone knew Mike as the General Manager of Babylon Bowl and then Coram Country Lanes. His support of bowling tournaments was unprecedented, and he was beloved by his employees and customers. 2020 USBC OPEN & WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS MOVED TO SEPTEMBER April 15, 2020 2020 CHAMPIONSHIPS TOURNAMENTS FAQ ARLINGTON, Texas – The scheduled start of the 2020 United States Bowling Congress Open Championships and 2020 USBC Women’s Championships will move to September and include a modified format to allow for increased social distancing for competitors. The move to September is designed to give tournament bowlers more time to focus on their personal situations during this difficult period. Annual Meeting Postponement

New York State USBC Annual Meeting June 6, 2020 Due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic, the New York State USBC Annual Meeting scheduled for June 6, 2020 in Binghamton has been postponed.  I am currently working with The Holiday Inn in Binghamton on possible dates to host the annual meeting and the 2020 Hall of Fame Awards Dinner. The tentative date for the Annual Meeting and Hall of Fame Dinner is August 29, 2020.  I will continue to provide updates as the event draws nearer or the situation changes.
