Garden City, NY: Joe LaBargo, Bayside, NY won the LIUSBC SUNation Classified Eliminator by defeating Paul Bajorski, Islip, NY 245-225 in the final shootout. Joe earned $2,000 for his victory while Paul won $1,500. Finishing in third, and earning $1,000, was Maniram Basdeo, Bronx, NY with a 199 worth $1,000. Rounding out the top 4 was Hector Diaz Jr., Bronx, NY earning $500 with a 187.

The SUNation Classified Eliminator was LIUSBC’s second special event of the season. The 3-game handicap tournament featured 4 average divisions with each champion meeting in a final 4 shootout. The championship match started out slow with a few opens and only a couple of strikes. Joe and Paul got things going when they threw a string of strikes starting in the 4th frame and distance themselves from the other finalists. Joe’s victory was secured when he extended his string to 5 strikes while Paul spared in his 8th and 9th frames.

The LIUSBC SUNation Classified Eliminator drew a nice crowd of 123 entries, advanced 22 bowlers to the finals, and paid out $8,000 in prize money including $2,000 added by the LIUSBC. Top series in each average division earned a bye.  The 169 & under division leader was Tom Romanski, Riverhead, NY with a 681, the 170-194 leader was Elizabeth Placencia, Long Island, NY with a 769, the 195-219 leader was Tyger Folmar, Long Island, NY with a 788, and the 220+ top series was shot by Paul Bajorski with a 713 .

The SUNation Classified Eliminator awarded Motiv bowling balls to the highest handicap score for each of the 9 qualifying games of the tournament. Motiv ball winners were: Tyger Folmar (2), Jill San Filippo, Paul Bajorski, Dennis McMillan, Jacob Klein, Max Thomas, Elizabeth Placencia (2.) SUNation offered every contestant a $100 VISA card for signing up for a solar consultation. Many bowlers took advantage of this fantastic promotion.
