Coram, NY: Paul Bajorski, Islip, NY won his third consecutive LIUSBC 700 Club Tournament at Coram Country Lanes. Paul won the $1,000 top prize by defeating Pierce Field, Shirley, NY 258-202 in the final match. While Pierce earned $500 for second place, finishing in third and fourth were Steve Ammirati, Patchogue, NY and Chris Lucchese, Bellrose, NY each earning $225.

Paul’s road to victory started when he qualified for match play in the Sunday 3pm squad with a 694. In his first match Paul defeated the #2 seed Eric Buffa, Lake Grove, NY 239-213. Paul’s second match was against Joe Risley, Patchogue, NY and he won a close contest 243-233. In the semi-finals Paul beat Chris Lucchese 253-215 to advance to the final match against Pierce Field.

In addition to the 16 finalists that cashed, there was a special women’s bonus. Debbie Gerstner, E. Northport, NY earned $200 by shooting the high women series of the tournament with a 671. Noel Ocasio, Holbrook, NY earned $100 for shooting the second highest women series with a 626. The winner of the optional senior bonus was Eric Buffa with a 757 worth $125 and second high senior went to Mike Perrone, Deer Park, NY with a 718 worth $75.  Pete Scavuzzo, Holbrook, NY shot the only 300 of the tournament.

The LIUSBC will be running another 700 Club tournament at Herrill Lanes February 8 & 9. Each day will feature 2 squads, 1pm & 3pm, with the top 4 each squad advancing to a match play final. Entry fee is only $50 per squad and the event features 3-games of scratch qualifying.
